Option I: Assessment
Objective:
Determine the effectiveness of the organization in meeting its goals and the expectations of its customers/clients by identifying issues impacting the ability of the organization to execute its mission; improve productivity by assessing the staff’s performance and level of commitment to the organization, revealing their unmet expectations and soliciting their suggestions on ways to improve organizational effectiveness.
Specific actions to be accomplished:
- Conduct an organizational effectiveness assessment
- Conduct an organizational climate survey
Deliverables:
- Confidential written organizational effectiveness report and a recommended course of corrective action
- Confidential written organizational climate assessment and associated recommendations
- Personal debrief of the findings to the Board of Directors
- Personal debrief of the findings to and detailed discussion on the suggested course of action with the Executive Director
Option II: Rebuilding the Foundation for Success
Objective:
Following completion of the Organizational Effectiveness Assessment and Organizational Climate Survey, Strategic Edge 360 will identify strengths, weaknesses, limiting factors and opportunities; develop an Action Plan that will correct deficiencies, maximize strengths and leverage opportunities; prepare metrics to include milestones, timelines, and accountability to ensure measured progress towards meeting goals; assist staff and the Board of Directors in the implementation of the Action Plan.
Specific actions to be accomplished:
- Conduct an organizational effectiveness assessment and an organizational climate survey
(All actions contained in the Assessment option)
- Facilitate strategic planning and goal setting sessions of up to two days with the Board of Directors and management team
- Prepare a detailed Action Plan including milestones, timelines and accountability to aggressively pursue corrective actions in support of strategic plan goals and objectives
- Provide guidance on the initial implementation of the Action Plan; provide assessments, feedback and recommendations during the first four months of implementation
Deliverables:
- Confidential written organizational effectiveness report
- Confidential written organizational climate assessment
- A strategic planning document
- A detailed Action Plan including milestones, timelines and accountability to address deficiencies and to capitalize on existing strengths and unrealized opportunities
- Hands-on assistance with the initial implementation of that Action Plan
- Scheduled feedback sessions with the organization’s management team and Board of Directors over a six month period
Option III: Sustainability and Growth
Objective:
Provide full-time management of the organization for up to four months serving as interim Executive Director or Associate Executive Director; implement initiatives contained in the Action Plan; rebuild trust and confidence in the organization; refocus and reenergize the staff on the mission; implement cost containment and revenue generation initiatives; if necessary, assist the Board of Directors in an Executive Director search and in the orderly transition to a new Executive Director.
Specific actions to be accomplished:
- Day-to-day management and supervision of the organization
- All Assessment actions and tasks
- All Regeneration actions and tasks
- Implementation of the Action Plan
- Organizational and/or staff restructuring as required
- Management and staff team building
- Review of all policies and procedures; make revisions as necessary
- Board development and succession planning as required
- Create a marketing and branding plan and assist in its initial implementation
- Research and prepare a development plan and assist in its initial implementation
- Identify potential new programs or activities that may add value to the organization and to its customers/clients
Deliverables:
- Day-to-day oversight and management of the organization to provide time for a new Executive Director search; assure a seamless transition to a new Executive Director; or assist a sitting Executive Director in the implementation of Action Plans and new initiatives outlined during the Keystone process
- Confidential written organizational effectiveness report
- Confidential written organizational climate assessment
- A strategic planning document
- A detailed Action Plan including milestones, timelines and accountability to correct deficiencies and to capitalize on existing strengths and unrealized opportunities
- Implementation of the Action Plan
- Organizational and staff restructuring resulting in more efficient operations and improved organizational productivity; improved delivery of services to clients; identification and implementation of economies and efficiencies and other cost savings initiatives
- Updated policies and procedures that are realistic, understood and consistently applied
- A Board of Directors that is focused on long term outcomes with the skills and experience necessary to keep the organization viable and sustainable well into the future
- An employee team that is more focused and motivated and hence more productive
- A marketing plan that will elevate the organization’s recognition and understanding within the community and compliment fundraising initiatives
- Identification of new sources of funding and strategies to leverage existing financial support
- The implementation of new programs and activities that will expand the organization’s reach to new clients and/or improve services to existing clients
Option IV: Specialized Services
Objective:
Following completion of the Organizational Effectiveness Assessment and Organizational Climate Survey (Option I) Strategic Edge 360 will take aggressive action to address management, program or operational challenges and opportunities related to organizational or staff restructuring; Board development and succession planning; marketing and branding; and new program development and activation.
